In collaboration with the Natural Art Reef Association (NAR) and with the participation of the Escola del Mar, Club Nàutic Vilassar de Mar organised an educational and environmental initiative dedicated to marine biodiversity, sustainability, and ocean conservation along the coast of Vilassar de Mar.
The activity combined environmental education with hands-on scientific experimentation, offering students the opportunity to actively participate in a real marine conservation and biodiversity restoration project that will continue over the coming months.
Hand-made Activity & Scientific Experiment
The second part of the day focused on a practical and creative activity in which students built hand-made marine collectors designed to attract and support marine organisms.
These collectors will be installed on the Nautic Club buoys along the coast of Vilassar de Mar with the objective of:
Over the coming months, the structures will remain underwater, allowing mollusks and other marine species to naturally settle and grow.
At the end of the summer, the collectors will be recovered and scientifically analysed to evaluate species colonisation, biodiversity development, and the potential of artificial support structures to contribute to coastal restoration.
